Plenty native Chad Westman had a memorable career as a player for the Delisle Chiefs Junior B hockey team. His success as a scorer in the Prairie Junior Hockey League seemingly carried over to senior, as he was named the league's Rookie of the Year back on February 14th.

Westman picked up 9 goals and 16 assists for 25 points in 18 games this season. He led all rookies in scoring.

It was clearly another good year for the West Central product, and he talked about doing it with a short bench.

"Thought it went pretty well. We kind of got bit by the injury bug this year, as I'm sure a lot of teams did. So we were juggling up lines and it's not very often we'd have the same line going into each game."

Westman talked about one of the line combinations that features a few of his teammates out of junior.

"Got to play quite a bit with Matt Jones and Parker Atkinson on a line. Thought we gelled really well. We played together in Delisle."

Jones picked up 13 goals on the year in part thanks to the playmaking of Westman, and then Parker Atkinson chipped in 6 goals as well.

Westman talked about getting to play with his former 'liney's' once again.

"I've got a lot of assists from what (Jones) can do with his shot. He's got a very effective shot, and he's put in quite a few this year," shared Westman, "(Atkinson) works down low. Hard working, and gets the puck to open sticks. Nice to have a guy like that."

Westman and the Dinsmore Dynamos are currently in the SVHL semi-finals against the Kenaston Blizzards. That series is tied after Dinsmore won the series opener 5-4 in overtime, and then Kenaston rebounded with a 6-2 win last night as the road side has won each game so far.

The winner of that series will face the Kyle Elks in the final after they swept the Eston Ramblers.
