After the Kerrobert Rebels season ended with a provincial playoff loss against Plenty, the off-season focus of the program has turned to a new project that will try to set up the Rebels for years to come.

"Friday Night Lights" was introduced as the first capital project for the Kerrobert Football Association in October, and that wasn't their only announcement during the early look into the future plans for the football team in Kerrobert.

Back to the main project of installing lights at the football field, the first official fundraiser was selling the lights itself. Purchasing 32 individual lights at $2500 a piece is a large task, though the football association thinks they should have them ready before the start of next season.

As seen above there are two lights paid for when looking at their first fundraiser, and another large step came after the first donation was made by a former Kerrobert Rebel who was just happy to thank the entire community for what football did for him. The first monetary donation though the Kerrobert Football Association sponsorship levels came from Glenn Mendoza, a former Kerrobert Rebel who he along with his brothers played with the team back in the day. Mendoza mentioned the youngest brother competing in the Provincial Final in 2005, and when asked who to thank for the initial donation, Mendoza just wanted to thank the community and parents. A special thanks was also given to a Kerrobert restaurant in Jimmy's for support while they were playing.

The Rebels seem to have a good start going to the off-season initiative and will be grateful for anymore money that comes in soon, but more plans to advertise the future goals of the program can be expected as time rolls on. West Central Online spoke with one of the executives on the project in Don Snell, and a deeper look into the exciting off-season makeover for the Rebels with more on the inspiration behind the project will be available soon.
