Back in July the Rosetown Fire Facebook page put out an advertisement asking the public to join their team. They were taking applications for Paid-On-Call Firefighter, AKA getting paid for calls you attend.
Firefighter positions in west-central Saskatchewan are almost always open, and we chatted with Deputy Chief in Rosetown Brett Herbert who feels it's likely that way across Saskatchewan.
"I think every fire department in the province is looking for members all the time." said Herbert, "If anybody is willing to go try it out and join their local department, I think everybody is always looking."
Having people at-the-ready is key in times of emergency. It's an ongoing issue in some areas because you can never have to much help.
