The Town of Elrose and area has made a great contribution to the Elrose Uniplex, as thousands of dollars was raised from their second Elrose Monet Recreation Board Online Auction. A staggering $100, 716 was raised for the Rec Board with the money going towards upgrades at the Uniplex. The Elrose Uniplex contains an indoor swimming pool and hockey area with ball diamonds in the general area as well.

Kaylie Ellis, head of the Rec Board was overwhelmed with the amount of support the auction received on Facebook, as over 220 items were up for bids.

“We were just wowed with just how everyone came together and gave us that great support this year, and we broke the six digits and were amazed. It was great to have the community support to help us meet our goal,” Ellis said.

The biggest items that sold for the auction were combines for the day from Western Sales, and Canada West Harvest Centre.

“One of the combines went for an auction high of $4700, while the other went for just around $4100,” Ellis said.

The $100,000 plus funds raised are going to renovations to the Elrose Uniplex, where Ellis said the west end boards and landing project, which includes new boards being replaced, and stairs as well. The lobby is also being worked on. Money is going to be put towards the Elrose Swimming Pool too, as it just opened its doors this past weekend in the west central community.
