The Delisle Chiefs took a win on each Wednesday and Thursday night this week to counter two weekend losses against Carrot River, and now get set to take on the Richardson Pioneer Southern Rebels in Assiniboia tomorrow.

On Wednesday it was a 5-4 shootout win at home against the Prince Albert Titans, and then yesterday’s win took some extra time as well, 6-5 over the Saskatoon Royals on the road in OT.

Against the Titans, Delisle jumped out to a 4-1 lead but were unable to keep it, as Titans forward Ben Zultok ripped off a natural hat trick to tie the game up 4. In the shootout Zultok would ironically be stopped, opening the door for three straight shootout goals and a Chiefs win.

The following night against the Royals the Chiefs were on the road, and saw more of a back and forth theme in the game compared to the night before. Delisle scored first to open the game but then a six goal second period had it 4-3 for the Royals entering the third, and 5-5 headed into OT as the Chiefs scored two goals including one on the power play. Just around the halfway point of the extra frame, Kyle Heintz scored the game winning goal to send the Chiefs into their weekend match-up.

The Chiefs will be looking to keep it going against a Richardson Pioneer Southern Rebels team out of Assiniboia that only has one win on the season.

That team features two west central talents in defenseman Tim McLeod, and forward Gavin Halter Metcalf. McLeod has 2 assists in his 9 games played, and Halter-Metcalf sits 3rd on the team in goals with 4 in 16 games.

With a win the Chiefs could continue their climb back up the standings, and they have a good amount of games in hand on their fellow PJHL teams. Expect continued coverage of the Junior B club this season.
