Kindersley’s Dakota Buttar continued his season in Professional Bull Riders at the Unleash the Beast event in Minneapolis, Minnesota this past weekend. Buttar was the lone Canadian rider travelling on the elite tour. He went 1 for 2 to finish 16th in the event and has dropped out of the top 20 ranking of the PBR still sitting at 26 in the world and still number 1 in Canada. After riding bull “I’m Smooth” for 84.75 points in Round 1, Buttar came down early in the second round, being bested by “Ol’ Boy” in a close 6.47 seconds, just over once second short of the 8 seconds you need to stay on to get a score . He did not compete in the championship round despite being in the Top 15 because of a groin injury he sustained after the second round of the competition.

Alan de Souza from Brazil, who was just riding in his 4th PBR Unleash The Beast event of his career, captured his first premier series event win at the Minneapolis Invitational. He was the only rider to go 3 for 3 without getting bucked off. The next event in the PBR circuit is the Greensboro Invitational which is held October 12-13 in North Carolina. The Professional Bull Riders World Finals are set to take place in Las Vegas on November 6-10.
