After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis back in September of 2018, Caitlyn Stenberg was then directed to the MS Society of Canada, specifically the Saskatchewan branch, and through this she found others like herself along with tools to navigate her new life. She participated in the MS Walk hosted by the MS Society and decided to form her support systems into a team. She rallied her friends and family together to create Caitlyn's Crusaders MS Walk Team and over the past three years they have raised close to $24,000 with their fundraising efforts that include bake sales, 50/50 draws, and guaranteed prize draws.

She then decided to raise money for awareness of the disease the best way she knew how. Which was holding bull riding events in communities throughout the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta. The first event was held in Kyle last September and she is hoping to have a bigger turnout this time around at the Sandhill Rodeo in Lancer on June 10. Stenberg talks about where the idea for the event came from.

“Rodeo has been in my blood since 1999. We rodeoed the entire time. It's been something that I've done forever. I go all over Saskatchewan and Alberta and stuff and I do it so, last fall I decided that I was going to do my own event where I do a bronc match with the Saddle bronc riding in Pilot Butte. This will be our second one (bull riding event), in September in Kyle, Saskatchewan, we actually did the first bull riding and then this year Lancer and the Sandhill Rodeo came on board and offered me their Friday night to be the kickoff for the rodeo,” Stenberg told West Central Online.

Stenberg expects a large amount of bull riders at this year’s event, and she explains how the donation to MS will work.

“We're hoping to have about 30 bull rides, then all the money raised is going back to the MS Society to be spent here in Saskatchewan. So, it's all donation based. There's no gate entry fee, it's just whatever you feel is good.

With the success of last year’s event, which raised just over $5,000, she is hoping this year’s event in Lancer will do even better, as the goal for this year is double that, around $10,000.

There will also be a 50/50 sale along with other fundraising activities during the event itself.

Stenberg also mentioned this has now become an annual event, and hopes to do it for years to come across the province.
