A gradual cool is in the air, as the Thanksgiving weekend is upon us here in west central

We are expected to see more seasonal temperatures which began yesterday, before a drop into single digits on Thanksgiving Monday.

Environment and Climate Change meteorologist Justin Shelley explains.

“Generally speaking, we are looking at temperatures in the mid-teens, which is more or less where we should be for this time of year. The average daytime high should be about 14 degrees, so we'll be at or maybe just slightly above normal through the weekend. Then starting Monday, we start to see a bit of a shift in the pattern and we cool down to a bit below normal.”

There is no substantial rain is in the forecast, but there is a chance of some late in the weekend according to Shelley.

“It should remain relatively dry up until Sunday. There is a chance of some precipitation late Sunday and into Monday, but doesn't look like it would be a significant accumulation.”

The smoke from the forest fires north of Hudson Bay caused special air quality statements for west central earlier this week, and Shelly said there is still a good chance the smoke may return sometime soon.

“That fire north of Hudson Bay is still producing a fair amount of smoke. So, even once that smoke clears out, we'll likely have some lingering around central parts of the province off and on for the next little while.”
