Laura Stacey and CJ Dunn CJ Dunn's Benefit Auction starts today at 10:00AM and will run until April 26th. CJ Dunn is a 4 year old Biggar resident who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After being diagnosed, his mother, Laura Stacey decided to become a stay at home mom to care for him full time.

Laura said the diagnosis came last year, "On June 1st of last year he was diagnosed with Leukemia. We started out fine and then he put into high risk and then very high risk just because the treatment wasn't responding the way it should have been." Being put into the higher risk category means CJ goes into more intense chemo sessions.

The family has put together a few different fundraisers for travel costs and to make ends meet. After quitting her job to be with CJ full time, Laura was able to collect unemployment for 35 weeks, "With me having to be completely unemployed, there's no income coming in." There is also a Paint Night scheduled for the end of the month in Biggar.

Right now chemo sessions require them to travel to Saskatoon three times a week for outpatient treatments at the cancer clinic. CJ is almost in what they call 'maintenance stage' and will only have to travel twice a month to the city during this time. Laura said it can be tough some days, "For the most part, we had our ups and downs for sure. It's not been a simple battle with Leukemia... but other than that we've been doing alright."

Laura has people from the Biggar community pulling together to help. Amanda Poletz, who is helping organize this auction, said she can only imagine how diffucult something like this could be, "Being from the community and being a mother myself, my heart really went out for her. I wanted to do something to help instead of being a bystander watching... If we just sit back and watch people struggle, it's not nice in life."

The auction will be online for three weeks. CJ Dunn Benefit Online Auction
