The RCMP provided an update in the case of Michael Gordon Jackson late Friday afternoon.

Last week, it was reported the RCMP were looking for Jackson, who was with his seven-year-old daughter Sarah. Now, after consultation with crown prosecutors, Jackson has been charged with one count of abduction in contravention of a custody or parenting order. Investigators also obtained a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

It was reported in other media outlets last week Jackson was to have returned his daughter Sarah to her mother in November. Subsequent court orders, according to those reports, including one issued at the beginning of this month, have called for Jackson to return Sarah to her mother immediately.

At this time, the RCMP state the criteria for an Amber Alert have not been met, though investigators continue to assess the circumstances.

The investigators believe there are people assisting Jackson in evading the police. They are reminding those who are aiding him that this could result in criminal charges. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.

“Sarah: we want you to know that you are not in any trouble,” said Chief Superintendent Tyler Bates, Officer in Charge of the Saskatchewan RCMP South District. “Your mom misses you very much and we have police officers doing what they can so you can see her again soon.”

Sarah Jackson is described as being Filipino/Caucasian, standing 4’2” tall, weighing 76 pounds with long, waist-length brown hair. She has brown/hazel-coloured eyes, and last had teal eyeglasses that she wears most of the time.

Michael Gordon Jackson is described as a 52-year-old man, weighing roughly 250 pounds with blue eyes and ark brown hair. He resides in the Carievale area and may have connections in Dilke, Oxbow, Alameda, Regina and Lamont, Alberta.

“Locating Michael Gordon Jackson and Sarah is a top priority for Saskatchewan RCMP officers,” added Chief Superintendent Tyler Bates. “Our investigators are diligently following up on all tips and reported sightings.  Every piece of information received is thoroughly examined and investigated. The charge laid against Michael Gordon Jackson is significant. The seriousness of the charge is reflected in the fact that the Saskatchewan RCMP have laid 34 charges in relation to 21 investigations since 1998. We are committed to locating Michael Gordon Jackson and reuniting Sarah with her mom.”
