A good old family fun time was held at the 2022 Cereal Mud Bogs over the weekend. Treasurer for the Cereal & District Athletic Association Brenda Barr helped put on the action, and talked about the turnout for the event.

“We figured about 450 (people) in attendance, we had about 300 people officially through the gate that paid and we were charging for 12 and up. And then of course there were lots of little ones and competitors and the volunteers got in free so easily 450,” Barr said.

Hands down, the most fun part of the day was when the kids raced for a $100 bill at the end of mud pits.

“They stood with $100 bill at the end of the 200 feet. It was kind of a mess. I'm not sure if that was the most fun or the fact that they got to hose each other off later,” Barr added.

Not only did the kids take part in the fun, some adults also raced through the mud as well.

“So many people were wearing jeans and the jeans sucked them down into the pit. I think a couple of people ended up without jeans on by the time they were done with their run, but yeah, it was awesome. I'd never been to a mud bog so I had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised, quite entertaining,” Barr also said.
