On Friday, the Outlook Civic Centre was filled with happy guests and incredible music for the Old Time Country Christmas event.

Starting at 7 pm, guests were treated to a wonderful performance by the Scott Woods Band. Scott Woods is a very talented musician who is known for his skills with the fiddle. Scott’s band include Guitarist Steve Piticco, Vocalist and yodeller Naomi Bristow, 15 year-old dancer Leo Stock, and Scott’s sister, Kendra Woods Norris who provides harmonies.

The band performed a two-hour show where each member was able to show their talents, as well as play Christmas carols, traditional country, and gospel music.

Many guests had an incredible time at the event. So much so, that Velma Corbett, the Treasurer for the Outlook Heritage Fund, kept receiving the same request.

“Probably half of the people said “get them back again!” and this is the third time we’ve brought it to Outlook, first time for Christmas, but many of the people are repeat attenders.”

Corbett also explained that Woods and his band will often check if Outlook would like to have them come and play at an event.

“They really get booked up, so since that first time, each time he does a western fling, he gets in touch with us and asks if we want to have him. So we kind of always rest one year in between, but I don’t know if we will this year, because we’ve got so many people in the 70’s age group that really really have enjoyed them, and they were the ones coming up and saying, get them again!”

This event was put on to help raise some money for The Outlook and District Heritage Museum.
