CJ Dunn The Biggar and surrounding communities came together to support a local family. The CJ Dunn Benefit Auction, which ran from April 5th to the 26th, was started to support CJ Dunn and his mother, Laura Stacey.

CJ Dunn is a 4 year old Biggar resident who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Laura is now a stay at home mom and cares for CJ full time. Without a monthly income, the family puts together fundraisers for travel costs and to make ends meet. Laura explains that some of the travel costs to Saskatoon are covered, "Lots of this money will go towards the fact that I can't work, I can't get a job for at least a year if not two. Lots of this will be to support at home and a home living, as well as driving and medical needs."

Laura said that businesses and people were generous with donations. There were upwards of 300 auction items donated to the auction. Not only was it local communities donating, but people from Saskatoon, North Battleford, and Regina as well. The total amount raised from this fundraiser was $22,380. "I wasn't expecting that much, at all. It was really nice to see."
