It was a magical evening this past weekend at the site of CFS Alsask:

West Central Online got into contact with Fred Armbruster with the Canadian Civil Defence Museum, after we were sure there was a special event going on over the weekend at the dome. Seeing the excellent night sky pictured above got the gears turning even more, but according to Armbruster their was nothing special about their most recent weekend of work.

"It was just a standard one, but we were able to enjoy (the view) while we had a work weekend."

It was a great weekend to be out at the former military site, and with the amazing weather Armbruster wishes more people could have been out to experience the scenery.

"If I knew it was going to be like that, it would have been epic. Would have been an awesome get together."

They got to the site a little later than usual on the weekend and continued on with some work from the end of July. The next tour dates for CFS Alsask are not coming until the next long weekend, as they will need some time to implement their newest attraction to the historic spot.

Their work schedule sees the Alberta based group travel to the border every second weekend, mostly now just keeping up with necessary maintenance after the main restoration work has been done and showcased a few different times now. Armbruster mentioned this time of year is a busy time for making sure they keep the dome maintained.

Armbruster and his group are preparing for their next weekend of tours, and you can follow along with them through their Facebook page above. Check out some photos in the gallery below of one of their new toys busy at work on the former military site:
