A new book from Hockey Hall of Famer, Hayley Wickenheiser, hit store shelves October 12.

"Over the Boards, Lessons Learned From the Ice" has Wickenheiser sharing the hard-won lessons she learned both off and on the ice that helped her have a fantastic hockey career, but also helped her craft a life filled with joy, growth, and challenges.

Hayley talked about the book saying, "It's potentially a collection of lessons learned from both the ice and my journey through medicine, and some of the mistakes that I've made along the way. I talk about some of the lessons that I've learned and having to persevere with a lot of grit and resiliency being a female obviously, growing up in Shaunavon, playing with the boys, and then going on then to play pro hockey."

Wickenheiser has represented Canada at numerous World Championships, and made six Olympic appearances, bringing home 4 Olympic gold medals. She is an accomplished public speaker and founder of the world-renowned Canadian Tire WickFest.

Currently, she is Senior Director of Player Development for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a medical doctor.
