For the Kampens, running is a family affair. The Rosetown family of four have all seem to have caught the running bug-mom and dad; Boyd and Ashley as well as their two daughters; Reese and Harper.

We caught up with Reese, who is just 10 years old, already has a couple of 5k runs under her belt and has set some big goals as well.

The grade five student who ran the Beaver Flat 5k, and ran in the Queen City Marathon, said she plans to complete a 10k run within the next few years. Reese has also set her sights on running a 21k as soon as she is eligible, which is when she turns 14.

The busy little athlete said, “I just joined cross country, and liked it,” when asked what piqued her interest in running.

Reese had a very successful cross country season. She ended up coming in 1st place for her age group in districts and was able to beat a runner to whom she previously came in second.

Most recently, Reese took part in the Rosetown Harvest Hustle Fun Run, where she set a new personal best time.

Reese said she ran this race, “With Uncle Wick, because my parents are in Chicago doing a marathon.”

The Chicago Marathon was the 3rd marathon the Kampen parents have completed.

When Reese was asked what her favourite part of running was, she answered honestly- the best part of running for Reese is winning.
