The provincial government announced 475 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, two deaths and 387 recoveries.

Of the new cases, eight are in the Central West zone, 36 are in Regina, 118 are in Saskatoon and 61 are in the North West zone.

377 (79%) of the new cases are among those unvaccinated, 26 (6%) are in individuals who are partially vaccinated, and 72 (15%) of the new cases are in individuals who are fully vaccinated.

This brings the active case count to 4,016. 82 cases are considered active in the Central West zone, as there were 14 recoveries in the zone as well.

There are 224 people in hospital with COVID-19 with 184 receiving inpatient care and 40 in ICU. 169 or 75.4% of the 224 people in hospital are unvaccinated.

On Wednesday the Saskatchewan Health Authority also announced plans for automated COVID-19 positive test notifications across the province. Automated negative test notifications were previously made available in May.

Beginning on Friday Sept. 17, anyone tested for COVID-19 in Saskatchewan will receive their test results through either text message or a voice call.

The Health Authority said this will be an efficient way to notify people, particularly those who have tested positive so that they can begin self-isolating immediately prior to being contacted by Public Health.

Notifications will be sent to people aged 12 and older. Parents and guardians can also receive test results for their kids who are 18-years-old or younger.
