This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Grain Commission’s Grain Statistics Weekly report.

First published by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics in January 1921, the Grain Statistics Weekly report has helped shape the history of Canada’s economy and agriculture sector by being a consistent source of transparent and unbiased information on grain movement.

For 100 years, the Grain Statistics Weekly report has been telling the story of how grain moves through the Canadian supply chain. This information is used by market analysts, researchers, producers, grain handlers and buyers and is essential to maintaining an effective and transparent market. The data in these reports helps businesses and grain producers make more informed business decisions and compete in the global grain trade.

The first known issue of the Grain Statistics Weekly report was published by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics (known today as Statistics Canada) in January 1921

The Canadian Grain Commission took over publishing the Grain Statistics Weekly report in 1971 after the Dominion Bureau of Statistics discontinued publishing the report in 1968.

In 2006, the report became free and accessible for everyone.
