Kindersley Town Council is sending an application to the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) for those who have experienced uninsured damage to their properties as a result of this summer’s excessive rain.

The decision was made at a special meeting of Council held on Wednesday evening, where over 2 dozen property damage claims were brought to Council’s attention. This amount exceeds the minimum number of claims required by the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

The PDAP provides financial assistance to help citizens, businesses, non-profit organizations, communities, and public parks recover from severe weather as well as natural disasters, such as tornadoes or flooding.

The Ministry of Government Relations will determine if Kindersley residents will qualify for funding.

Kindersley administration is still working with insurance providers and brokers to ensure that anyone eligible can apply to receive support from the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

The PDAP could reimburse up to 95 percent of expenses on private claims.
